Singing Day – Sunday, October 20, 3 – 6 PM

I grew up in a singing family, learning songs that speak to our bodies and souls, to all the elements of nature, and to planting and harvesting food. Music has always been a powerful way of expressing the connection of humans with the more-than-human.

On the Singing Day, I was honoured to have one of my favourite Toronto musicians Ken Whitely sing from a new album which focuses on the environmental crisis. He also led the 20 or so people present in a singalong. There were six friends from my Songfest community, a group of educators/activists that for 34 years has gathered monthly to sing our hearts out.
