Deborah Barndt

La política, la poeta, la pensadora. Three aspects of myself that I identified while researching and photographing popular education for social change in Peru in 1976. For five decades, I have struggled to integrate them in everything I do. Each taps a different passion or commitment within me, together defining my way of knowing, being, and acting on the Earth. 

I organize this website around these three – translated in English as the activist, artist, and academic – though they overlap and feed each other. I may add a fourth A, for animal, as I become more convinced that the existential environmental crisis we face today is, in part, due to our inability to see ourselves as only one of myriad interdependent beings on Mother Earth
