Next Steps
This exhibit, by definition, was a “work-in-progress.” Some ideas floating around:
One visitor wrote: “Have you thought of producing a book of these photos?”
I have thought about making a set of cards that could be played with, to compare skin and bark, bodies and trees.
My co-curator Alex Gelis wants me to apply to mount the exhibit as part of the Contact Festival next May in the gallery of the Queen’s Quay artist coop. She’s had two prints made by the best photo printer in Colombia on a beautiful paper. They would have to be framed in glass.
I’m not really interested in the white cube gallery option, as the small galleries and specific audiences better suited my purposes and desires. I also don’t want to get into the grant-writing art world.
A friend who worked for decades in the labour movement has invited me to speak to a group of retired Steelworkers, using the photos as a catalyst for talking about our aging and the ideas contributing to the climate crisis.
